The VELUX Group has announced the global winners for the 2020 Edition of the International VELUX Award for students of architecture. This biennial competition, endorsed by the UIA since 2004, invites participants to explore daylight in one of 2 categories: Daylight in Buildings and Daylight Investigations.
Velux 그룹은 2020년도 건축 학생을 위한 국제 VELUX Award의 국제 수상자들을 발표했다. 2004년도부터 UIA로부터 보증되었으며 이 대회는 참가자들을 두가지중 하나의 카테고리(Daylight in Buildings와 Daylight Investigations)를 통해 일광의 주제를 탐구할 수 있도록 초대합니다.
The jury, consisting of UIA Representative Nóra Demeter (USA/Hungary), Martin Pors Jepsen (Denmark), Juri Troy (Austria), Sebastián Adamo (Argentina) and Odile Decq (France), selected the winners from among the 10 regional winners chosen at their first round meeting in July 2020.
심사위원은 UIA 대표 Nóra Demeter, Martin Pors Jepsen, Juri Troy, Sebastián Adamo, 그리고 Odile Decq로 구성되있으며 2020년 7월에 열린 1차 미팅에서 선정된 10명의 지역별 우승자들중에서 최종 우승자들을 선정하였다.
A total of 579 daylight projects were submitted by students from 250 schools of architecture in 60 countries. The final round of the competition, consisting of presentations by finalists to the jury, was postponed twice due to the pandemic.
총 579개의 프로젝트들이 60개국 250여개의 건축 학교에 재학중인 학생들로부터 제출되었다. 본선 진출자들의 발표로 구성된 이번 대회의 최종 라운드는 펜더믹 상황으로 인해 두 차례 연기되었다.

Solar Desalination Skylight by Henry Glogau (Denmark), 2020 Winner in the Daylight in Buildings category

Solar Desalination Skylight, a project by Henry Glogau from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, (Denmark), under the supervision of Professor David Garcia, was selected winner in the Daylight in Buildings category.
Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts에 재학중인 Henry Glogau의 프로젝트인 Solar Desalination Skylight가 David Garcia교수의 감독 아래 Daylight in Buildings카테고리의 우승자로 선정되었다.
This project provides a “holistic approach to providing Chile’s informal coastal settlements with water, light and energy” using solar energy and seawater to create a solar desalination skylight, which emits natural diffused light to produce drinking water and uses leftover salt brine for energy creation. “The jury was impressed by the proposed solution to an important societal issue,” according to Nóra Demeter, jury chair.
이 프로젝트는 태양 에너지와 바닷물을 이용해 자연 확산광을 발산해 식수를 생산하고 남은 소금물을 에너지 생성에 활용하는 태양열 담수화 채광창을 만들기 위해 "칠레의 비공식 해안 정착지에 물, 빛, 에너지를 제공하는 전체적인 접근법"을 제공한다. Nóra Demeter는 "심사위원은 중요한 사회적 문제에 대한 해결방안에 깊은 인상을 받았다"고 말했다.

The Theatre of Light by Julia Gi?ewska, Dominik Kowalski and Paweł Białas, Winner in the Daylight Investigations category.

The Theatre of Light, a project by Polish team of Julia Gi?ewska, Dominik Kowalski and Paweł Białas from the Silesian University of Technology (Poland), under the supervision of Professor Jerzy Wojewódka, was declared winner in the Daylight Investigations category.
Silesian University of Technologyd에 재학중인 Julia Gi?ewska, Dominik Kowalski 그리고 Paweł Białas의 프로젝트인 The Theatre of Light가 Jerzy Wojewódka 교수의 감독 아래 Daylight Investigations 카테고리리의 우승자로 선정되었다.
The project, set in Poland’s Izera Dark Sky Park, one of the last darkest places in Europe, addresses the problem of artificial light pollution and the disruption of the diurnal cycle for humans, animals, and plants. The students sought to create a circular theatre of light over a kilometre of land, symbolising cyclicality: earth, sky and eternal connection.
이 프로젝트는 유럽의 가장 어두운 장소로 손꼽히는 폴란드의 Izera Dark Sky Park를 배경으로 했으며 인간, 동물, 식물의 일주기의 교란과 인공 빛 공해 문제를 다룬다. 학생들은 순환 (지구, 하늘, 그리고 영원한 연결)을 상징하는 원형의 빛의 극장을 1킬로미터의 땅 위에 지을려고 했다.
The jury admired the elegance, coherence and sensitivity of the project’s ‘dialogue’ between natural light and nature and addressed the modern problem of not experiencing the dark night sky. The project demonstrated convincingly that "big architecture" isn’t necessary to make a clear architectural statement. “This project informed us about the value of our proximity to nature, which resonated strongly with us," according to jury member Martin Pors Jepsen.

심사위원은 이 프로젝트의 자연광과 자연의 '대화'의 우아함과 일관서으 그리고 감수성에 감탄을 자아냈으며 어두운 밤하늘을 경험하지 않는 현대적 문제를 다뤘다. 이 프로젝트는 명확한 건축 진술을 하기 위해서 "큰 건축"이 필요하지 않다는 것을 설득력 있게 입증한다. Martin Pors Jepsen은 "이 프로젝트는 우리의 자연과의 근접함의 가치를 알려주었다"고 말했다.
